We don't ask for your money!

In this economy who has the money to put into an offering plate? I do believe that tithing is very important but what if you tithed with your time!? What if you gave up a portion of your time for your local church? Can you imagine what we could get done?

The Condition of the Church

As many of you might know I am a Pastor's son. Having the experience as a Pastor's kid has really given me the opportunity to critique and review the situation of the church. I know the Word of God. I know the Love of God that the Bible portrays in the scripture but unfortunately we have been blinded by the World. Over the past year I have had the opportunity to visit several churches in Taylorville. I have taken time to review the situation of those churches and how they reach the community. The results are in and it's pathetic.

The churches in this town originally started I believe out a sincere desire to reach the lost but I believe that vision is almost 100% gone. In many cases they have allowed the situation with the World effect there witness to the community. We see it on the news all the time and we talk to people with prejudices against people for many reasons. We see churches who ban or emotionally ban homosexuals, drunks, and others. What kind of church are we portraying? What kind of church is that? Wasn't it our Jesus who went to the streets with the Word? Wasn't it our Jesus who went and hung out with the sinner?

That doesn't mean that agree with ever lifestyle but on the other hand we have to allow them into the church. We have to allow God to change there hearts. If they are truly seeking God then he will change there hearts. That is not our job.
